Sea to Sky Parks is currently hiring full-time Grounds and Maintenance person to join our team at Stawamus Chief Provincial Park.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Park Manager, the grounds & maintenance person is responsible for landscaping and general maintenance tasks within the park. Including but not limited to, landscaping parkland areas, maintaining structures within the park, operating gas-powered tools to complete tasks, maintain the working operation of tools and equipment, minor carpentry, plumbing and general repairs, other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Groundskeeping & Site Maintenance

  • Perform routine landscaping including mowing, trimming, brush cutting, raking, and debris removal
  • Maintain day-use areas, picnic sites, parking lots, and trailheads
  • Remove litter and manage waste and recycling stations
  • Monitor and report hazards such as fallen trees, damaged infrastructure, or unsafe conditions
  • Assist with trail repairs including drainage clearing, step repairs, gravel placement, and erosion control
  • Maintain signage, fencing, gates, and barriers
  • Perform minor carpentry repairs to park structures (picnic tables, kiosks, railings, stairs)
  • Support basic plumbing and facility maintenance as needed

Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate tools and equipment such as:
    • Lawn mowers and trimmers
    • Chainsaws (if certified)
    • Leaf blowers
    • Power washers

  • You have experience completing basic maintenance tasks.
  • You want to work outdoors all summer in all types of weather
  • You have strong guest service and public relations skills

  • You are passionate about outdoor recreation
  • You are self-motivated, proactive, and reliable
  • You can sustain physical activity for a full 8-hour shift, including walking up to 8 hours per day on uneven terrain, trails, gravel, and paved paths
  • You are proactive and adept at identifying maintenance tasks.

What We Require from You

  • You have experience completing basic maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing, painting & staining.
  • A positive and friendly attitude in all weather conditions.
  • Full class 5 driver licence and clean abstract.
  • Able to follow direction and work unsupervised.
  • Able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Your own transportation to get to and from the park for work.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labour, including lifting up to 50 lbs. (23 kg), bending, crouching, and standing
