Position Summary
Facility Park Cleaners play an essential role in maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming, and well-organized park environment for guests. This position supports the delivery of high-quality park operations while ensuring all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Sea to Sky Park Services policies, operational standards, and contractual obligations outlined within the Park Use Permit.
This role includes both daytime and overnight shifts and is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are self-motivated, and take pride in maintaining public spaces during all hours of park operations.
Key Responsibilities
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow and comply with all Sea to Sky Park Services policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Perform daily and overnight facility and grounds maintenance to ensure park areas remain clean, safe, sanitary, and operational
- Maintain trailheads and surrounding park areas by:
- Raking gravel
- Sweeping around kiosks and common areas
- Emptying and maintaining garbage and recycling bins
- Conducting litter collection throughout parkland areas
- Clean and maintain washroom facilities and outhouses, including:
- Sweeping and sanitizing
- Restocking supplies
- Reporting maintenance or repair requirements
- Complete overnight cleaning and maintenance tasks with minimal supervision while ensuring parks and facilities are prepared for daytime guest use
- Conduct overnight patrols of park areas to support public safety, park compliance, and security
- Monitor Park activity and respond appropriately to operational issues, emergencies, or guest concerns
- Safely operate and maintain equipment, tools, and machinery required for park operations
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to park visitors
- Maintain strong communication with supervisors, managers, and team members
- Contribute to a safe, respectful, and positive workplace environment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Park-Specific Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain Maple Bay log cabins as required
- Clean and maintain washrooms and public facilities throughout Cultus Lake Provincial Park
- Ensure overnight cleanliness standards are maintained in high-traffic park areas and facilities
Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records related to park operations and maintenance needs
- Excellent guest service and public relations skills with the ability to remain professional, approachable, and assertive when required
- Ability to work independently and responsibly during overnight shifts with minimal supervision
- Strong situational awareness and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and nighttime environments
- Knowledge of basic parks, grounds, or facility maintenance practices
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, vehicles, and other maintenance equipment
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally while encouraging voluntary compliance with park regulations
- Physically capable of:
- Lifting up to 50 lbs
- Walking up to 5 km per day
- Standing for extended periods (8+ hours)
- Pushing and pulling equipment such as lawnmowers and maintenance carts
Qualifications
- Valid BC Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract required
(Work vehicle provided during shifts) - Criminal Record Check required
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification required
(Training may be available through Sea to Sky Park Services) - WHMIS and general occupational safety knowledge considered an asset
- Previous experience in parks, custodial, groundskeeping, maintenance, security, or outdoor recreation environments is considered an asset
Terms, Conditions & Perks
- Seasonal hourly position
- Wage: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour
- Uniform provided
- Work vehicle provided during shifts
- Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts required
- Hours may vary throughout the operating season
- Personal vehicle required for transportation to and from the park
