August 11, 2018: Notice to park visitors of park closure

As of noon (12:00 p.m.) on Saturday, August 11 Sasquatch Park will be closed to the public.

A 100 hectare wildfire is burning close to the park.  Due to recent growth and change in fire behaviour campers and other park visitor will be asked to vacate the park at the direction of park staff, starting at 9:00 a.m. on August 11.

This park will remain closed until further notice however, campers and other park users can still visit other provincial park campgrounds that remain unaffected by wildfires. Please visit the Discover Camping website ( to check for available reservations.

Any impacted park visitors that may have reservations cancelled will be automatically notified and refunded by Discover Camping. If visitors have questions about their upcoming or current reservations at the park, they can contact Discover Camping at 1-800-689-9025 between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. PST daily.

Swimming: Campers and swimmers should be aware that SWIMMERS ITCH may be present at all Lakes within Sasquatch Provincial Park. For more information on the treatment and prevention of swimmers itch, check out the BC Healthfiles page.

ATV’s, Snowmobiles and other similar motorized vehicles are not permitted within the park due to the ecological sensitivity of the park.

Visitor Services

The paddle sports rental kiosk is located at the boat launch at Hicks Lake. A valid picture government issued identification is required for all rentals. Cash and Credit are accepted. For further information and rates please visit out Paddle Sports page.

About Sasquatch

Sasquatch Provincial Park is located off Highway 7, approximately 6 kilometers north of Harrison Hot Springs.

Sasquatch Provincial Park is a great family destination. The park includes two lakes: Hicks Lake and Deer Lake. Activities include swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and other kinds of boating. There are three campgrounds in the park: Lakeside, Bench and Hick’s Lake.  Lakeside Campground provides easy access to Deer Lake and features a playground and large lawn area right at the lakeshore. There is a boat launch at Deer Lake for small vessels. Hicks Lake Campground is located right on Hicks Lake. There is a volleyball net and grass area beside the lake. Hicks Lake also has a boat launch for small vessels.  Please see BC Parks website for horsepower restrictions on the lakes.

There is one group campsite in the park with a large picnic shelter. The group site is located on the shore of Deer Lake.
