Advisories

Campfires

Effective at noon on Thursday, Aug. 28, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

The Coastal Fire Centre will rescind its existing campfire prohibition due to cooler weather in the forecast, which will result in a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

The following activities will now be allowed:
• Campfires, as defined by the Wildfire Regulation
• Open fires in an outdoor stove

The public is reminded that campfires must not be larger than a half-metre high by a half-metre wide. Anyone who lights a campfire must have a hand tool (such as a shovel) or at least eight litres of water available to fully extinguish it. Never leave a campfire unattended and make sure that the ashes are completely cold to the touch before leaving the area for any length of time.

Please visit the Wildfire Management Branch’s Website for updates and more information.

Be aware there is a “Boil Water Advisory” in effect at this park.

Plumper Cove is open year round with minimal servicing in winter months.

Visitor Services

About Plumper Cove

Plumper Cove Provincial Park is a marine park located on the northwest side of Keats Island in scenic Howe Sound.  The park is accessible by private boat, foot passenger ferry from the Langdale Ferry Terminal and by water taxi from Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.

The climate of Howe Sound is temperate with typically sunny and dry weather during the summer months. The sunny and dry weather plus moderate breezes help to create a boaters’ paradise.  Marine facilities include a wharf and mooring buoys. The park has forested walk-in campsites and day use picnic sites. Activities for visitors include hiking, swimming and fishing. The park features a group picnic area located at the water’s edge.

Plumper Cove Marine Park is open year-round with limited facilities in the winter.
