Increased Parking Enforcement at Othello Tunnels

Safety concerns prompt  increased parking enforcement at Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park

As of July 21, 2017 vehicles parked outside of designated parking stalls in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park will be towed at the owner’s expense, in accordance with the Park and Recreation Area Regulations, Section 23.

Over the last three years the Coquihalla Canyon has experienced exceptional growth in visitors. Peak visitation periods occur between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on sunny weekends. It is during these high volume periods that BC Parks and Sea to Sky Park Services experience a high number of illegally parked vehicles. These vehicles create a public safety risk; preventing vehicles from entering and exiting the park, specifically inhibiting emergency services vehicle access.

BC Parks and Sea to Sky Park Services ask visitors to ensure that they park in designated stalls only and adhere to the no parking signage and markings. Vehicles parked outside of designated areas may be towed. From July 1 to July 20, 2017, windshield notices will be placed to warn visitors of this change. After July 20, 2017 illegally parked cars will be towed to the Hope Towing impoundment lot in Hope at the vehicle owner’s expense.
